Milly Sweeney is an actor and writer from Glasgow, Scotland.
Milly made her professional playwriting debut with "Water Colour" which won the St Andrew’s Playwriting Award in 2024. It received five stars from The Stage Magazine, who called it an "astonishing debut," as well as "raw and real and mightily moving.” Milly is a co-creative director at Cuttin’ Aboot. Their productions have been performed in venues across Glasgow, as well as at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
She's keen to create socially engaged work, exploring themes such as mental health, queerness, class and feminism. She also has experience writing for young theatre, and was a participant in YTAS’s “Next Generation” program.
When not performing on a stage, or hunched over her laptop, Milly can be found in coffee shops, (people watching,) at home, (consuming copious amounts of reality TV,) or in Polo (dancing into the wee hours.)
